He plays harmonica southern blues, rock and americana, influenced by Blues, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash,Peg-Leg Sam, John Mayall, Johnny Winter,Muddy Waters. Inducted into Underground Blues Hall of Fame. PIEDMONT BLUES - You'll hear a lot of this played by Michael King and Freddie Vanderford, New Years Eve. "Piedmont" refers to the area from Richmond, VA to Atlanta with South Carolina greats -- Josh White (Greenville) - Rev Gary Davis (Laurens) -- major contributors to American music folklore. The subject matter may be Blues, but with the finger-picking that makes Piedmont Blues sound like a piano ragtime, it's upbeat music that rocks the blues away. |
